Meet Bodhi, a popular dog model who has been earning so much his owners gave up their jobs to be his full-time manager. As Fast Company writer Chris Gayomali reports:

Between the photo contracts, guest appearances, and sponsored posts on Tumblr and Instagram, a good month for Menswear Dog earns the couple somewhere in the ballpark of $15,000.

Bodhi's owners, Yena Kim and her boyfriend David Fung, did not, of course, start out planning to make a star of out of the handsome Shiba Inu, so it wouldn't be wise for would-be dog owners to believe they can follow suit. After all, one should choose a dog for purely personal reasons, as was the case with Bodhi's owners:

Bodhi's parents know they have a good thing going. But more than anything else, they seem to have nothing but warmth and love for the pup, who they bought on a whim from an Upper East Side pet store five years ago when they were both "broke designers" living in Harlem-quirks and mischief and penchant for peeing at inopportune times and all.

If you have been thinking about owning a dog, it is important to go only to trusted breeders who know what these precious animals are all about. Westchester residents can find adorable Westchester puppies of various breeds from the best pet stores like NY Breeder.

Before going dog shopping, however, take the time to consider the following:

What size?

Do you want a robust Siberian husky? Or do you prefer a nugget Yorkshire terrier? The size of your home may be a factor in the size of dog to choose, but not necessarily so. It will all boil down to your preference. What is important is that your dog gets the daily exercise it needs to be healthy and happy.

What breed?

Puppies for sale in Westchester, NY are so varied you will likely have a hard time in choosing. To start with, perhaps you can go through the eight dog groups, then further narrow your options by focusing on the group that appeals to you the most. You have to remember, however, that each breed will have different needs, particularly in feeding and exercise. Research on various dog breeds to learn more about each one, and see how a breed's particular needs would match up with your lifestyle.

Are you ready for a dog?

Keep in mind that dogs need a lot of care and attention, which will involve your time and financial resources. Your pet canine will be family, so you have to make sure you are ready to make that big commitment of bringing one into your life.
